Yet another group of amazing Dragons recently became national champions through the Elite Clubs National League.
Established in 2009, the Elite Clubs National League is made up of 113 teams in nine conferences across 35 states. The Solar Soccer Club is one of those teams, and four Carroll Dragons helped them pull off an undefeated season with a final record of 21-0-1.
Carroll freshmen Hannah Jordan, Zoe Matthews, Parker Wilkerson and eighth grader Grace Alvarez helped the Solar Soccer Team advance to the playoffs in Tampa, Florida earlier this summer, according to an email. They won their pool 3-0 with a combined score of 16-1, then won their quarterfinal match 7-0.
After qualifying for the final four in Richmond, Virginia, the Solar Soccer Team won in both the semifinals and finals with a combined score of 7-2, making them national champions and bringing home the gold medal.
“We had to run the gauntlet in the playoffs, beating the No. 2, 3 and 6 teams in the country,” Hannah’s father Dudley says. “We are very proud of their victory and unprecedented accomplishments.”
