Grapevine Mayor William Tate saved a turkey from becoming someone’s Thanksgiving dinner this week. On Monday, November 23, Mayor Tate appeared in front of a crowd of families to pardon a turkey named Tom and spare him from becoming somebody’s main course for Thanksgiving. Mayor Tate says Thanksgiving is a time where we should celebrate all that we have been given, especially during this year.
“I’m delighted to see these families and children here to celebrate with us today,” Mayor Tate says. “Now more than ever, we take these moments to be thankful for our blessings, including spending time with our family and friends.”
After reading the proclamation pardoning Tom, Mayor Tate sent him off to Nash Farm to live out the rest of his life in peace. Mayor Tate also announced that the North Pole Express, presented by the Great Wolf Lodge and T-Mobile, will allow an extra 1,000 ticket sales to accommodate for social distancing and safety measures this winter.
