Metroplex residents are going to want to keep an eye on this season's "American Idol."
Colleyville's Landry Champlin, a former Miss Southlake, announced she will be part of the iconic show's 23rd season. Her audition performance will air Sunday.
Only in her early 20's, Champlin already has quite the performance resume. In 2022, she won Overall Talent and a $1,000 scholarship for her rendition of Frank Sinatra's “That’s Life” in the preliminary rounds for Miss Texas and Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen competitions.
Champlin finished in the top 5 at the Miss Texas competition for six consecutive years and was first runner-up in 2021 and 2022. She has also been named Miss Colleyville and Miss Plano.
Champlin, currently living in NYC, recently wrapped up a run with the show “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” in Sarasota, Florida, and performed in “Rock of Ages” at the Sharon Playhouse in Connecticut and produced an Elvis Presley show at 54 Below in New York.
"American Idol" airs at 7 p.m. March 15.
