Grapevine Faith Christian School’s creative arts team had a busy fall semester. Starting in August, GFCS started creating its movie-quality production of Disney’s “High School Musical,” which was originally livestreamed to families across the globe on December 5.
“We knew that this year would have to look different in the way that we showcased our incredible creative arts program,” says GFCS creative arts director Scott Werntz via press release. “In the midst of what challenged and jeopardized many of our local school’s musical productions, we took the opportunity to find inspiration through creativity and asking ‘What if?’”
After selecting the main cast, GFCS students were able to record all the songs from the musical in a professional studio and film the show with a 12-person crew around campus. Students wore clear masks during their performances to ensure they were staying safe while staying authentic to the plot.
“Our students not only got the experience of a lifetime working with professional recording and film crews, but were stretched in their ability to act both on stage and in front of the camera — a skill that puts them ahead of their peers for post-high school auditions and applications,” Werntz says via press release.
The show was originally streamed on December 5, but GFCS added two additional times after receiving feedback from those who missed the original showing. Now, fans can tune in on December 19 at 7 p.m. and December 20 at 3 p.m. to catch these talented students in action. Tickets can be purchased at GrapevineFaith.com/Creative-Arts/High-School-Musical.
