GRACE Grapevine issued a red alert for its 2020 Christmas Cottage, declaring the nonprofit needs community support to supply toys and gifts to its clients throughout the next critical 15-day period.
GRACE CEO Shonda Schaefer says in the letter that people have been flocking to the Christmas Cottage since it opened this past Monday.
“We know from the number of client families coming to us that there is a great deal of need in our community,” Shonda says in the red alert. “We have already more than doubled the amount of families that we served last year. We also know GRACE is one of very few agencies mounting a holiday program this year."
The red alert states locals can help by purchasing toys from its toy list, Amazon wishlist or Wal-Mart wishlist; sign up for one of its volunteer opportunities including the Christmas Cottage, Donation Station and Food Pantry; or give a financial gift. Shonda ends the red alert saying there’s one other way locals can help GRACE.
“Please include our direct service staff in your family’s prayers: emergency assistance case managers, medical clinic staff, food pantry managers, transitional housing case managers, senior services coordinators and, of course, our seasonal team.”
