House of Shine’s newest exhibit will feature four Southlake residents next month.
According to a media release, House of Shine will debut a new art gallery next month called “Life Maps: A Journey Back To My 12-Year-Old Self" that features the lives of nine North Texans through a series of connect-the-dot pictures. Executive director Dr. Claudia Beeny says the exhibit will connect to show how these individuals lived fulfilling lives by being themselves.
“We will look back as far as 10 or 12 years old, asking questions such as ‘What kind of student were you?’ ‘How did you spend your time?’ ‘Did talents and interests you possessed influence or impact your career path?’ ‘Which life experiences have proven to be the most influential?’ ‘If you could deliver a message to your 12-year-old self, what would it be?’” Dr. Beeny says in the media release. “When we follow fulfilling paths, our dots connect in such a way that the picture revealed is of a life well-lived.”
Four of those individuals are Southlake residents, including Texas Health Southlake President Traci Bernard, Southlake DPS Public Information Officer Brad Uptmore, entrepreneur Leslie Mitchell and Dr. Magdalena Battles. Other Texans featured in the exhibit include sportscaster Lewis Johnson, animator Samuel Barsoum, filmmaker Brady Clayton and corporate executive Gabrielle Madison. EY Managing Partner Thear Sy Suzuki is another individual that was also featured in President George Bush’s collection “Out Of Many, One: Portraits Of America’s Immigrants.”
You can see all of these individuals in House of Shine’s exhibit June 15 - August 31 at 334 S. Barton St.
