Nancy Scott and Aimee Martin know what it means to be busy bees — that’s why they helped each other organize their hives. Now, they’re helping others to do the same.
Founded two years ago by Nancy and Aimee, Mama’s Beehive helps families organize their lives, whether it's decluttering or paper and photo organizing. Inspired by their own experiences with motherhood, Nancy says the organizing business came from looking for something to do during school hours.
“I’ve always considered myself a naturally organized person,” Nancy says. “I’m the child that sorted all of the Easter eggs and rearranged the books in a certain way. I’ve always helped family and friends organize things along the way. That’s just kind of how I am and how all of this came about.”
At around the same time, Aimee received her mother's inheritance after she passed away and needed help sorting through a lifetime of belongings. That was when she felt inspired to start her own lifestyle blog, and eventually, Mama's Beehive with her best friend.
“We’re those two kinds of crazy friends where we live down the street from each other,” Nancy expresses. “We see each other all the time, and we even have sister dogs together. We’re those kinds of friends.”
As part of Mama’s Beehive, Nancy and Aimee go to their clients' houses and sort, organize and label items for safekeeping. They also offer in-person consultations, virtual organizing sessions, public speaking engagements and provide a list of resources and tips through their blog to help incorporate better systems and practices to make their client’s everyday lives easier and work for them.
“We just saw a need for organizing,” Nancy says. “I know it sounds weird that people enjoy organizing papers and photos and stuff, but there’s a real need for it. When somebody works through all of that and creates a system that works for them, it really does make a difference.”
