Great Plains Bank has tapped longtime Southlake banker and community advocate Mark Jones to lead its Texas branches.
With over 40 years in the industry, Mark previously served as the CEO and chairman of First Financial Bank for over 20 years. During his time with First Financial Bank, he led several community initiatives — including the Big Bike Build, where he and a team of volunteers built and distributed around 50 bikes to needy families around the area.
While he originally retired from the banking world in 2022, Mark was intrigued by Great Plains Bank coming to Texas and decided to meet with the management team in Oklahoma. It didn't take him long to fall in love with their people-centric approach and emphasis on customer service.
“I really liked what I saw and thought if I ever did come out of retirement, this would be a great company to work with,” Mark says. “I just think there was a really good opportunity there that I just couldn’t pass up."
As the Texas Regional President, Mark is responsible for growing the brand and overseeing Great Plains Bank's five Texas locations, including Southlake, Fort Worth, Irving, Frisco and Sherman. With a full team backing him up, Mark is looking forward to everything Great Plains Bank will accomplish in 2024 and beyond.
"The people part is what really sold me," Mark says. “I’m looking forward to reconnecting with the community that I’ve been heavily involved with over many years.”
