While its birthday celebration got canceled earlier this year, the city is still committed to celebrating Southlake in its own way. That’s why the Mayor’s Alliance for Unity and Culture launched a poster contest to pay tribute to all of the things residents love about Southlake.
Next week, the Mayor’s Alliance will accept entries for its “We Are Southlake” poster contest where entrants can submit art that visually represents what they love about the community. Participants should display their posters in their windows or front yard for people to view throughout the week.
Winners will be selected from seven different age groups and announced on September 29. Winning posters will be displayed on the light poles in Southlake Town Square this fall, and all entries will be compiled into a mosaic that will be installed later this year to celebrate the spirit of Southlake.
“That’s what this is all about — bringing our community together,” Mayor Hill says during the September 15 city council meeting. “Making sure people have the opportunity to get to know each other so we can find out all that we have in common rather than talking about or assuming that we have a lot of differences.”
Participants will have until September 25 to submit their entries. For more information on contest rules and categories, go online at CityOfSouthlake.com/MAUCArtContest.
