From Miss Dallas to Miss Southlake, Annette Addo-Yobo has come far in the pageant world. After winning Miss Texas earlier this year, Annette is now going after her biggest title yet at Miss America 2025.
Ever since her family emigrated from Ghana in 1999, Annette has always dreamed of competing in pageants. After she received her citizenship in 2022, she competed and won her very first pageant at Miss Dallas. Over the summer, Annette made history by becoming the first Ghanaian and immigrant to be crowned Miss Texas.
Now, she’s looking to make history yet again at the Miss America pageant, which is taking place in Orlando, Florida on Jan. 5. With 50 contestants, the competition is stacked, but Annette is eager to put her best effort forward.
“[This] encapsulates not only the journey and work in my time as Miss Texas but also my story as an autism advocate, immigrant, first-generation American and aspiring attorney,” Annette says on Instagram. “Texas, I’m ready to make you proud.”
Southlake will be sending Annette off in style during a free celebration event on Friday, Dec. 6 from 5-7 p.m. in Southlake Town Hall. Tickets and streaming information for the Miss America competition can be found at MissAmerica.org.
