While some people took up bread baking or embroidery as a hobby during the pandemic, Rosanna and Samantha Sanchez learned to spray tan.
“I knew I wanted to do something in the beauty industry. I also knew that I wanted to do whatever it was, with Sam,” Rosanna says. “We initially had the idea of becoming Lash Artists, Sam was amazing at it, but I was terrible.”
Rosanna’s difficulty in learning how to do lashes led the mother and daughter to pick up spray tanning. With Rosanna’s job virtual and Samantha unemployed due to the pandemic, the mother-daughter duo honed their spray tanning skills and began to think about starting a business together.
“My parents had convinced me that being in business together would be better because we could then take more clients and lend each other a helping hand when need be,” Samantha says. “It was the best decision we ever made and working together is such a joy.”
So in April of 2020, Rose Gold Tanning — a 100% mobile tanning business — officially launched.
“It's honestly better than I could have ever hoped for,” Rosanna says about working with her daughter. “We have the same vision for our business and future and I feel like most of our success comes from the fact that we are truly best friends and get along really well.”
While Rosanna is in charge of the social media, Samantha makes all their graphics. And then they both make tanning kits and prep for appointments.
“I love that there is this whole other world that only we share,” Rosanna says. “I love our car rides to and from appointments the most because we laugh and sing and get some real quality time together, which I cherish so much.”
Samantha agrees completely.
“It is very special to me to share all of this time together,” Samantha says. “Growing up, especially right now, I have needed her guidance for a lot and having the car rides and making videos together to put on our page, has boosted my mood and confidence.”
Whether they’re on their way to a client’s house for an appointment or preparing content for their social media, Samantha and Rosanna love working together.
“It means everything to me. Being able to spend so much time with her is by far the best thing about this business,” Rosanna says. “It's something we are building and doing together and I am so proud of that.”
