Everyone’s favorite Maverick, Dirk Nowitzki is back at center-court, but those looking for a flurry of three-pointers will have to wait. This weekend, the “Dunking Deutschman” will join an ever-growing list of NBA colleagues and local celebrities to support children’s charities in a friendly game of tennis.
Joining Dirk on the tennis courts will be the newest Dallas Mavericks guard and four-time NBA Champion Klay Thompson and a bevy of other stars, including Dr. Phil McGraw and CoCo Vandeweghe, former World No. 9 in singles, 2018 U.S. Open Doubles Champion, and U.S. Olympian. Also sharing the nets with Nowitzki will be two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash and 2011 NBA champion J. J. Barea, as well as Mark Knowles, former World No. 1 tennis player in doubles with 55 ATP doubles titles.
In its sixth year, The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation Tennis Classic will be held this Saturday, Sept. 14, at 3 p.m. inside the Banner House at T Bar M in Dallas. Proceeds from the day’s events will benefit The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation, which awards grants annually to organizations focusing on children’s well-being, health, and education. By combining sportsmanship with philanthropy, Dirk continues to expand his legacy from one court to another.
Tickets for this star-studded event are priced at $65 each and can be purchased at Universe.com.
