Southlake Carroll graduate and University of Texas at Austin freshman Alexis Missimo is already receiving attention for her athletic accomplishments. After the student-athlete’s collegiate debut on March 5 against Texas State, Alexis was named an honorable mention for Top Soccer’s National Team of the Week (March 9). She also was named the Big 12 Conference’s Soccer Freshman of the Week (March 8). Additionally, Alexis ranked No. 4 in the NXGN list for the best wonderkids in women’s football.
During that March 5 game, Alexis racked up two assists and scored her first career goal with the Longhorns. After one of her teammates went down in the box, Alexis took the PK and added a point to the scoreboard, helping secure a 4-0 win for Texas.
“I just went over to take the PK,” Alexis says. “It was really cool to score because I’ve been dreaming about being a Texas Longhorn since seventh grade.”
This isn’t the first time the midfielder is being recognized for her skill. Alexis was the No. 1 U17 player in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer. She was also recently featured in “Sports Illustrated’s” Faces in the Crowd with her longtime teammate Trinity Byars.
The Texas Longhorns have a few more games in their regular season, including a match tonight against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
“I think it’s going to be the same as that first game — trying to get an assist or a goal,” Alexis says.
