Over 66,000 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every year, including Southlake resident Bob Bunnett’s wife, Borbala. Now Bob is honoring his late wife’s memory by co-chairing the upcoming Red Tie Gala.
A longtime consultant and philanthropist, Bob cared for Borbala in her final months before she passed away in August last year. Now raising their 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son by himself, Bob looked for ways he could help other families whose lives were being affected by pancreatic cancer. That was when he learned about the Cancer Support Community North Texas and the many ways they help cancer patients throughout the area.
“I was looking for something more than just donating money — an organization that was significant and impactful,” Bob says. “After learning more about Cancer Support Community North Texas and the services they provide, I felt supporting this organization could honor Borbala in a meaningful way.”
With three clubhouses in Dallas, Collin and Tarrant County, Cancer Support Community North Texas provides a variety of free programs and support groups to both people diagnosed with cancer and their families. Moved by their mission to help others, Bob is co-chairing this year’s 4th annual Red Tie Gala, which benefits families around the area living with the disease.
“Cancer Support Community North Texas helps people who need social and emotional support along their journeys,” Bob says. “It’s a critical service that my kids and I will be proud knowing we helped make happen for cancer patients and their families.”
The 4th annual Red Tie Gala will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas Love Field. Tickets are $225 for individuals and $400 for couples and can be purchased online at CancerSupportTexas.org.
