Southlake will be represented at Carnegie Hall and on the world stage this summer.
Created by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, the 2022 National Youth Orchestra of The United States of America is made up of 109 musicians from 34 states who are between ages 16-19. Diego Pena, whose hometown is Southlake and currently attends the Interlochen Center for the Arts, was chosen to participate in Carnegie Hall’s 2022 orchestra, according to a press release.
"The musicians who make up NYO-USA’s 2022 roster are among the very finest players in the nation,” Clive Gillinson, Carnegie Hall’s executive and artistic director, says via press release. “I'm sure that this will be an unforgettable summer for them — coming together to train with some of the top professional musicians in the country and performing at the highest level.”
After a two-week training period, Diego and the orchestra will perform at Carnegie Hall on July 29 before touring across Europe, according to a press release. The cities on the tour include Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Berlin, Germany and Lucerne, Switzerland.
