Mary and Carl Ice, a Westlake couple, will be honored with the Outstanding Philanthropists Award during the 35th annual National Philanthropy Day Celebration, according to a press release.
Set to be virtual due to the pandemic, the National Philanthropy Day Celebration will take place on November 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and feature acceptance speeches by the day’s honorees.
Mary and Carl, who were nominated by The Salvation Army of North Texas, have supported The Salvation Army along with various other organizations. Carl is currently a member of the Army’s National Advisory Board and the Army’s Youth Education Town in Arlington, the music room bears Mary and Carl’s name in honor of their support, according to a press release.
“Mary and Carl Ice are servant leaders, who continually answer the call to help those in need,” Jay Dunn, managing director of The Salvation Army of North Texas, says in a press release. “They perpetually seed funding initiatives that create everlasting impact directly into peoples’ lives and have made it their personal mission to eliminate roadblocks in service with immediate funding relief. It is difficult to think of anyone more deserving of this honor.”
The Ices also support the Flint Hills Discovery Center, The Lyle School of Engineering at Southern Methodist University and Kansas State University, where the School of Engineering is named in honor of Carl, according to a press release.
