What is CHARIS?
What is Charis Behavioral Health?
Charis Behavioral Health offers specialized mental health treatment through a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) designed for youth ages 10-17. Our team of experienced professionals has worked extensively within the PHP/IOP space, witnessing firsthand the limitations of programs driven by insurance and census-based treatment requirements. At Charis, we prioritize a safe, supportive, and non-restrictive environment where interventions are applied thoughtfully, avoiding the use of restraints or PRN medications. This sets us apart from traditional, volume-focused facilities.
How is Charis different from other PHP/IOP programs?
Charis stands out with its commitment to individualized care within a close-knit group setting, guided by our principles of Grace, Kindness, and Life. With a maximum capacity of 12 patients, we emphasize quality over quantity, maintaining a waitlist when necessary to ensure each patient receives dedicated attention. Our staff is a passionate team that values a positive, low-stress work environment, understanding that their well-being directly impacts the quality of care each child receives. This approach fosters genuine connections, allowing our staff to model resilience and create an engaging, healing space for every child.
Who is the ideal Charis Kid?
Charis is best suited for youth facing specific mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, low self-worth, trauma, and complex family dynamics. Our focus is on the child who may be struggling quietly, often unnoticed, and just a step away from crisis. For children whose needs fall outside our expertise, particularly those with behavioral or other specific conditions, we maintain partnerships with neighboring facilities to ensure they receive the specialized support they require.
