Cooler temperatures are on the horizon, and Halloween is right around the corner. You know what that means! Yes, indeed - the pumpkin craze is in full swing. While the entrances to local grocery stores are already overflowing with options, if you really want some good pumpkin action, it's time to make your way to a pumpkin patch. With photo ops galore of hayrides, pumpkin picking and intricately carved jack-o'-lanterns, there isn’t a better way to ring in the much-awaited arrival of autumn. Here are four particularly standout patches nearby:
For a little local pumpkin-centric fun, head to Hall's Pumpkin Farm in Grapevine. Hall’s has plenty of activities to amuse the whole family, including hay rides, a 2-acre corn maze and plenty of pumpkins. Hall’s is open Wednesdays through Sundays and is a cash-only business, so make sure you have some on hand to purchase tickets to all the fun attractions. Weekend tickets for the over-12 crowd are $15, kids from 4-11 are $10, while kids 3 and under get in free. This pumpkin patch has a special deal on Wednesdays and Thursdays with tickets available for $5, while seniors and kids 3 and under get in free.
Each year, the Dallas Arboretum enchants thousands of visitors with its spectacular pumpkin spread. The 19th annual fall event is in full swing, and it will run through Nov. 3. This year, the iconic pumpkin event's theme is “Texas Town,” taking guests on a journey through pioneer life. As always, visitors can expect 100,000 pumpkins and over 150,000 blooms accented by autumn squash and other seasonal gourds. Other activities that are a part of Autumn At The Arboretum include a hay bale maze, a pumpkin patch and music. Ticket prices range from $13 to $22 and the event is open daily from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m.
Pumpkin Nights at Howell Family Farms
For a little after-dark pumpkin fun, don't miss Pumpkin Nights at Howell Farms in Arlington! This delightful seasonal event is renowned for its elaborate displays of intricately carved pumpkins and imaginative lighting arrangements. Guests can wander through a captivating world of pumpkin-themed landscapes, featuring everything from meticulously carved jack-o'-lanterns to larger-than-life pumpkin sculptures. The event features plenty of attractions, such as delicious food vendors, entertaining performances and interactive experiences, making it a must-visit destination for families and anyone looking to embrace the festive spirit of autumn. Tickets start at $15 for kids and $20 for adults on weekdays, and $20 for kids and $30 for adults on weekends, with free admission for kids 3 & under.
Located in Aubrey, this working family farm kicked off its pumpkin patch season at the end of September and will be open every day through Nov. 3. Team Family Farms’ pumpkin patch features a wide variety of attractions, including a giant human hamster wheel, a giant pipe slide and a hay maze. Parking is free, and admission is $12 on weekdays and $18 on weekends, with free admission for kids 2 and under. You can visit Team Family Farms from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. to indulge in all the autumn fun to be had!
