A total of 45 candidates are being considered to replace Dr. David Faltys as Carroll ISD’s next superintendent, according to the Thompson and Horton law firm.
Thompson and Horton updated the CISD school board of trustees on its superintendent search progress during a special board meeting on Monday, October 19. Earlier this month, focus groups including parents, teachers, staff members and students provided recommendations to the firm on what qualities they were looking for in the next superintendent.
After the application closed on October 13, Dr. Mike Moses says 36 men and nine women applied for the position from 10 different states.
“I think the response to the district was very favorable,” Dr. Moses says in the meeting. “Of the 45 candidates, 28 are sitting superintendents. There are also two interim superintendents that are among that group. There were six deputy or assistant superintendents. There were six directors, consultants and teachers, and there were three principals that applied.”
Dr. David Thompson says the firm is pleased not only with the number of applicants but also with their quality of experience.
“Your brand is strong, and the interest in your position is very strong,” Dr. David Thompson says. “It is a diverse group. You have people at different stages of their career. You have variety. A lot of different individuals bring different talents that you will have the opportunity to consider.”
The board went into executive session to further discuss the candidates. The first round of interviews will be conducted between October 26 and 28.
