Carroll continues to set the pace in the race for the Lone Star Cup, extending its lead with another strong showing across winter activities.
In the UIL’s second official update, released March 20, the Dragons climbed from 67 to 96 total points, adding 29 points through a balanced mix of athletic and academic success and extending their lead to 25 points over second-place Lewisville Flower Mound.
A large portion of the boost came from the pool, where both swim programs delivered. The boys team led the way with six points, while the girls added four more. On the mats, boys wrestling contributed another six points with a strong postseason performance.
Basketball also played a key role in the latest standings. The Lady Dragons added six points following their playoff run, while the boys chipped in two points to round out the hardwood contributions.
Beyond athletics, Carroll's VEX Robotics team added five points, highlighting the program’s continued strength in STEM competition and its importance in the overall Lone Star Cup race.
Looking ahead, the next wave of points will be reflected in the third update on May 22, which includes FIRST Robotics, soccer, golf, track & field, tennis, theatrical design, one-act play and academic UIL competitions. The final opportunities to earn points will come on June 12, featuring softball and baseball. Official Lone Star Cup standings will be finalized July 1.
