Dragons wear the color green with pride on their jerseys and T-shirts at every school assembly and football game. But this upcoming Monday, they will be sporting blue in support of victims of bullying.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, so many campuses are focused on educating and raising awareness on bullying prevention. While many CISD schools will hold their own events at their respective campuses, the district will kick off National Bullying Prevention Month during “Dragons Go Blue” day on Monday, October 7.
“During October, all campuses will be focused on bringing more awareness on ways to eliminate bullying through activities and classroom lessons,” CISD Superintendent David Faltys says in the most recent board of trustees meeting. “We are encouraging students, staff and the community to kick off this important month by wearing blue on October 7. We’ll share photos on social media, and we’ll use the hashtag, #DragonsGoBlue.”
During National Bullying Prevention Month, students will have several options for reporting potential bullying concerns. According to MySouthlakeNews.com, each secondary campus has a unique student hotline that can be found on their website that the community can use to report cases of bullying. Additionally, CISD has a “Let’s Talk” feature on its website that serves as a digital variation of their phone tip line. Students, parents and teachers can fill out an online form to report any circumstances that they feel the district needs to be aware of.
There is also a Dragon Tip Line that can be used on the Dragon Mobile App, where students can submit messages that will go directly to the campus administration for review.
