COVID-19 didn't stop Carroll ISD from ranking among the top schools in Texas School Guide’s rankings. For over 13 years, Texas School Guide has ranked campuses based on their academic performance, growth and college readiness. But with the pandemic affecting 2019-2020 data, it was challenging for the organization to publish its annual rankings as usual this year.
So instead, the Texas School Guide pulled together the past three years of data and measured schools based on their past achievements, performance, growth, racial equity and college readiness. Out of the thousand schools listed in its pandemic rankings, eight Carroll ISD campuses placed among the top 50 schools in North Texas.
"In this time of uncertainty, it is more important than ever to monitor our students’ progress in a meaningful way," the organization says on its website. "By examining past performance, we hope to understand better which schools and students entered the 2020-2021 school year more prepared and likely need more generous support."
According to the rankings, Carroll Middle School ranked ninth in the middle school rankings while George Dawson Middle School ranked 14th. In the elementary rankings, Old Union Elementary School ranked sixth, Eubanks Intermediate School ranked 17th, Walnut Grove Elementary School ranked 19th, Jack D. Johnson Elementary School ranked 23rd, Don T. Durham Intermediate School ranked 29th and Rockenbaugh Elementary School ranked 46th.
