Daniel Dodson was a student at Carroll Middle School when he was a child. Now, he’s making a return to his roots as its newest assistant principal.
Serving as Rockenbaugh Elementary’s assistant principal for the last four years, Daniel served as a campus testing coordinator and an elementary and intermediate summer school principal before he made the move to assistant principal. Daniel remembers a time where Carroll Middle School’s mascot was a knight instead of a dragon.
“It feels a bit like coming home,” Daniel remarks. “I cannot wait to meet the Dragons at CMS and connect with them in a way that inspires their social, emotional and academic growth.”
Daniel was recently announced as Carroll Middle School’s newest assistant principal during a virtual CISD board of trustees meeting on Monday, April 20. Daniel says he believes middle school is a pivotal point in a young person’s life, and he can’t wait to be a part of it.
At the same time, he says it’s bittersweet to leave the Dragons at Rockenbaugh Elementary School, and he will miss them dearly.
“Memories of field day, cafeteria karaoke and hallway encouragements bring a smile to my face,” Daniel remarks. “Crucial times like helping a student make a positive choice during a difficult moment and supporting a student through a tough season of life warm my heart and will stay with me forever. I’m honored to have served with them and learned so much under Mrs. Blackwell’s leadership.”
