Carroll’s robotics program is once again proving it belongs among the elite, turning in a series of standout performances as the postseason heats up.
On February 5, two of Carroll’s top teams traveled to Houston for the 6A UIL VEX State Championship, and both made deep runs against the state’s best. Team 7110A advanced all the way to the final, pushing the competition to a tiebreaking match before narrowly finishing as state runner-up. Team 7110H also delivered a strong showing, reaching the quarterfinal round of eliminations.
The momentum didn’t stop there.
On February 28, Carroll hosted the Texas Region 5 Championship, welcoming 40 teams from 20 schools — all competing for just 12 coveted spots at the VEX Robotics World Championship. Once again, the Dragons rose to the occasion.
Team 7110A captured the tournament’s highest honor, the Excellence Award, securing an automatic berth to the world championship. Meanwhile, teams 7110X and 7110H showcased their consistency and technical skill by finishing among the top seven in the highly competitive robot skills challenge — also earning their tickets to the global stage.
The trio of Carroll teams will now head to St. Louis in April to compete at the VEX Robotics World Championship, set for April 21–24 at the America’s Center. The event will feature more than 800 teams from over 35 countries, bringing together the best in design, programming and problem-solving for one of the most prestigious competitions in student robotics.
