Following the University Interscholastic League’s first Lone Star Cup standings release for the 2025–26 school year, Carroll currently sits atop the Class 6A rankings, leading the state with 67 points and setting the early pace in the prestigious sports and extracurriculars competition.
Carroll holds a 13-point advantage over Bridgeland (54 points) and Lewisville Flower Mound (51 points), the only other 6A programs currently within striking distance after the initial update.
The Lone Star Cup recognizes excellence across athletics, academics, and fine arts, awarding points based on postseason advancement and competitive finishes throughout the school year. Schools earn higher point totals for deeper playoff runs, district and regional championships, and top performances in UIL-sanctioned competitions.
The second points update is scheduled for March 20.
Carroll’s early lead is fueled by elite postseason success across multiple programs. Volleyball (16 points) and boys cross country (10) both delivered state championships, while the football team added 12 points with its run to the state semifinals. Boys and girls wrestling combined for 18 points, and team tennis contributed 10 more by advancing to the regional final.
The early momentum is especially notable given Carroll’s finish a year ago. During the 2024–25 school year, the Dragons tallied 102 points, finishing second overall among Class 6A schools and second-most in the entire state. Carroll was edged only by Austin Vandergrift, which amassed 122 points on the way to the title. Carroll had captured the Lone Star Cup the previous year with 111 points, marking the program’s ninth championship in school history.
