The Carroll ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2020-2021 school calendar during its regular board meeting on Monday. After a District Advisory Committee formed a calendar subcommittee, the DAC drafted two calendar considerations in December for the 2020 school year, according to the board meeting agenda. Janet McDade, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, says the DAC received 748 responses on the two proposed calendars.
“The DAC is tasked each year to establish calendars for us to look at,” she says. ”Then we get feedback through our community, parents, students and employees.”
The biggest difference between the two calendars, she says, involved bad weather days. The first calendar draft had one of the bad weather days on Feb. 12 while the second draft had it as the Monday after spring break. According to the board meeting agenda, 453 respondents selected the first draft, while 295 respondents selected the second. The board of trustees unanimously approved the first calendar draft at the board meeting.
