Polls were open until 7 p.m. at CSHS during Saturday's CISD Board of Trustees election.
Dragon students will retain the 2020-2021 school calendar, barring any additional winter situations. The Texas Education Agency has approved CISD’s waiver concerning the missed days from February 16 to 19, allowing the district to move on with the school year without any additional makeup days or hours.
“Due to the substantial impact of the winter storm, TEA granted a Missed School Days waiver to districts who applied and qualified based on the weather and its related impacts,” says Dr. Janet McDade, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services to MySouthlakeNews.com. “Our Dragon community was greatly affected by this event, and we are humbled by the way our families continued to take care of each other even during this trying event.”
April 2 will remain a bad weather day, meaning school will be closed for both students and staff. That is assuming that there will be no additional weather situations between now and then. Professional development half days/asynchronous learning afternoons will still be held on March 12, April 16 and April 30.
“After the difficult year we have had and the additional obstacles brought forth from the bad weather, I am grateful that the state showed empathy and understanding during the challenges we faced from the bad weather,” says Executive Director for Curriculum & Instruction Gina Peddy to MySouthlakeNews.com.
