The Dragon Classic committee made a record-breaking donation to the Carroll Education Foundation last week.
Spearheaded by Carroll alumni Isaac Gregory and Robert Clayton, the seventh annual Dragon Classic tournament was held at the Grapevine Municipal Golf Course in late September. There was golfing, swag bags, T-shirts, sponsors and an award ceremony for the tournament winners after a lunch provided by Feedstore BBQ.
Isaac says the tournament was an incredible success, raising over $60,000 for the Carroll Education Foundation.
“That actually breaks the previous record, which was $30,000 given by the Dragon Classic in 2019,” Isaac says during the Oct. 18 school board meeting.
Isaac and Robert presented the $60,000 check to CEF and the school board during its meeting earlier this week.
“This is the largest single gift in CEF or CISD history,” CEF Executive Director Kathy Lanier says. “We’re grateful to see so many community members, businesses and alumni come together to support CISD teachers.”
