While Southlake Carroll students, parents and supporters can’t go to the Dragon Den in person anytime soon, they don’t have to. Their store is officially online and open for business.
The Carroll Athletic Booster Club Dragon Den sells Southlake Carroll clothes and merchandise to support CISD’s athletic programs. But after classes were moved online in March, the Dragon Den decided to temporarily suspend its operations and shut down the shop.
“We canceled our plans to host a graduation special order event and year-end sales,” Dragon Den Vice President Wendy Sippel says. “The Den basically sat idle awaiting decisions by higher-ups.”
While much remains in the air on what school and sports will look like in the fall, the Den is still committed to supporting Dragons however it can. That’s why it launched its first Facebook live sale event on Monday, July 20, showing off its stock of Dragon shirts, dresses, shoes and hats to the viewers that tuned in. Wendy says the first live sale was an overall success and plans to continue hosting digital sales throughout the fall.
“It is important to keep the Dragon Den top of mind for our community,” Wendy says. "One-hundred percent of our profits go directly back into all the UIL programs that the CABC supports. This year will look different, but our aim is to still raise money and support our student athletes.”
Wendy says they will develop a website to sell their products on and work toward possibly opening their shop for limited hours in the fall. To stay up to date on their future sales, follow the Dragon Den on Facebook or visit DragonSportsNetwork.com.
