After a smashing success during its inaugural event last year, the Carroll ISD parent-teacher organizations are proudly coming together to present Dragons Light The Night 2022.
Sponsored by Sewell Automotive, Hello Bello and EVO Entertainment, Dragons Light The Night was created to bring the community together by placing 2,000 paper lanterns right in the heart of Southlake Town Square. This year, all 11 Carroll ISD campus PTOs are collaborating to reiterate the selflessness and community spirit amongst all the Dragons.
“What started as a single campus idea that focused on the light, strength and unity of our Old Union Dragons grew as we reached out to other PTOs to participate with us,” says Janet Bassingthwaite, Old Union PTO president and Dragons Light The Night co-chair. “In a single year, we grew from three elementary schools participating to all schools and all grade levels.”
Students and community members will have the chance to decorate and personalize their own lanterns before laying them out in front of the Rustin Pavilion on March 10. Lanterns can be purchased for $30 each or $100 for a family bundle. All proceeds will go toward the PTO organization at all 11 CISD campuses.
“Dragons Light the Night became an event for the entire community representing all that makes Southlake wonderful,” Janet says. “It underscores the strength of this community and the heart of being a Dragon.”
