While many Dragons were enjoying their winter break playing with presents and spending time with their families, these 13 Dragons were working to make a difference through the Candy Cane Project.
Starting in November 2020 over Thanksgiving break,a group of 13 Dragons came together to give back through different community initiatives. According to MySouthlakeNews.com, the group delivered more than 50 meal baskets to families in need around the area in November. On December 20, the group assembled gift baskets filled with candy canes, cookies and brownie mixes and donated them to local nonprofits. According to MySouthlakeNews.com, the group purchased, wrapped and delivered over $1,750 in donated items.
Candy Cane Project members include Walnut Grove Elementary students Nikitha Kancherla, Sanjana Kunam and Nitya Badireddy; Durham Intermediate student Aanya Kancherla; Carroll Middle students Sahasra Kunam, Sriya Badireddy, Malaika Nair and Sidhi Devireddy; and Carroll High students Aisha Myneni, Neha Gogineni, Shriya Gogineni, Surya Venigalla and Nitya Nadella.
