Talking Animals Books, Grapevine’s beloved independent bookstore, is turning the page to an exciting new chapter. The shop, which opened in 2022 as the city’s first indie bookstore, will soon open a second location at 909 S. Main Street — complete with a coffee bar, wine tastings, and expanded event space. The grand opening weekend will kick off November 1, with music, author appearances, tastings and more. If you can't wait until November, keep your eyes out for a soft-launch event in October featuring a special ticketed event in honor of the 20th anniversary of Twilight.
The expansion builds on Talking Animals’ community-driven spirit. The original Worth Street store was funded by a $54,000 Kickstarter campaign, and the team is returning to its roots with a new $100,000 Kickstarter campaign that just launched. Backers will unlock exclusive rewards such as merchandise, private event invitations and even a bookstore lock-in party.
“This new location is more than just a bookstore; it’s a place to gather, explore ideas, and enjoy coffee and wine while surrounded by stories,” said co-founder Valerie Walizadeh.
What’s New on Main Street

The Worth Street store will remain open, giving Grapevine readers two spots to connect with the Talking Animals community.
