GRANT MILLER
On Thursday, April 17, The Gatehouse—a pioneering nonprofit supporting single women overcoming temporary hardships—celebrated its 10th anniversary with an unforgettable evening on the field at AT&T Stadium. More than 400 guests gathered for the momentous occasion, headlined by keynote speaker President George W. Bush, who captivated the crowd with humor and heartfelt insights.
Distinguished attendees included Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker, Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer Charlotte Jones and AT&T CEO John Stankey. The Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation served as an underwriting sponsor, and AT&T lent support as a presidential sponsor.
"Celebrating 10 years of transforming lives at The Gatehouse is more than a milestone,” said The Gatehouse CEO and Founder Lisa Rose. “It’s a testament to the strength, courage and resilience of every woman and child who has walked through our doors. As we honor a decade of impact at The Gatehouse, we look ahead with the recent launch of our Vocation Track. By supporting our members in obtaining skilled trade and vocational training, we expand our ability to empower more single women to earn a family-sustaining wage for permanent, positive change.”
A Legacy of Empowerment
Founded in 2015 by Lisa and Matt Rose, The Gatehouse opened as an initiative of projectHandUp, driven by a bold vision: to offer single women and mothers a dignified path out of crisis through comprehensive support, stable housing and career development. Over the past decade, the nonprofit has served more than 800 women and their children, equipping them with the tools to achieve lasting self-sufficiency.
Located on a serene, gated campus in Grapevine, The Gatehouse provides fully furnished one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, onsite childcare and access to a network of life coaches, counselors and career advisors. The community also features a playground, chapel, sports court, picnic area and a pond.
Soaring Toward the Future
The anniversary event also marked the official launch of The Gatehouse’s new Vocation Track, a workforce development initiative aimed at helping women pursue skilled trades and sustainable career paths. The program received a major boost with $250,000 in scholarship funding led by television host Mike Rowe’s mikeroweWORKS Foundation and other generous partners.
