After a brief delay for additional testing and commissioning, the wait is finally over: Tormenta Rampaging Run officially opens to the public July 9 at Six Flags Over Texas.
The highly anticipated coaster is set to make history as the world’s first giga dive coaster, combining the towering height of a giga coaster with the dramatic vertical drop of a dive coaster. The attraction rises 309 feet above the Arlington skyline before sending riders into a 285-foot, 95-degree beyond-vertical drop. It reaches speeds of up to 87 mph and stretches 4,199 feet of track.
Season pass holders and members are able to ride the coaster now, with it opening to the general public July 9.

Tormenta Rampaging Run will also claim six world records, including tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster, tallest vertical coaster loop at 179 feet, highest Immelmann inversion at 218 feet and highest 95-degree beyond-vertical drop.
The new coaster anchors Rancho de la Tormenta Plaza, an immersive Spain-themed area inspired by the legendary running of the bulls. Guests will enter a colorful Spanish village featuring music, banners and a fictional story surrounding a powerful bull named Tormenta.
The expansion also introduces Cocina Abuela, a new restaurant serving Spanish and Latin American-inspired dishes including papas bravas, chicken tinga, Spanish rice and housemade guacamole.
Originally scheduled to debut June 26, the coaster’s opening was pushed back as park officials completed final testing. Now ready for riders, Tormenta Rampaging Run arrives just in time for summer thrills—and as Six Flags Over Texas celebrates its 65th anniversary season.
Six Flags Over Texas has postponed the opening of its record-breaking Tormenta Rampaging Run due to commissioning and testing taking longer than expected, according to a company social media post. A new opening date has not yet been announced.
When it does open, the ride will anchor a major new themed expansion at Six Flags Over Texas and is expected to deliver headline-grabbing stats. Tormenta Rampaging Run reaches 309 feet in height with a 285-foot beyond-vertical drop, making it one of the most extreme additions in the park’s history.
The coaster will also serve as the centerpiece of Rancho de la Tormenta Plaza, an immersive Spanish-themed village inspired by the running of the bulls. Guests will enter a colorful plaza filled with music, storytelling and a fictional legend tied to a powerful bull named Tormenta.
The area will also introduce Cocina Abuela, a new restaurant featuring scratch-made Spanish and Latin American dishes such as Spanish rice, papas bravas, chicken tinga and housemade guacamole.
Originally planned as part of the park’s lead-up to its 65th anniversary celebration on Aug. 1, the project remains a key milestone for Six Flags Over Texas, which first opened in 1961.
Park officials say additional updates on the opening timeline will be shared once testing is complete.
