In its inaugural Texas Collegiate League season, the Frisco Roughriders will have two former Dragons on their roster: Rece and Wyatt Stapp, according to a press release.
Rece and Wyatt attend Ohio University and the University of Cincinnati, respectively. While at Southlake Carroll, Rece and Wyatt were shortstops, with Wyatt graduating in 2017 and Rece graduating in 2019.
This summer, they are both set to play with the Frisco RoughRiders as infielders, with the season set to start on June 30. The team will play 15 games at Dr. Pepper Ballpark, with the home opener taking place on July 3 against the Amarillo Sod Squad.
“We’re excited to host the Texas Collegiate League at Dr Pepper Ballpark this summer,” says Andy Milovich, RoughRiders president and general manager. “The pandemic has taken an enormous toll on families, businesses and the sports-entertainment industry throughout North Texas and the country. Giving baseball fans and families the chance to come together and see the top college baseball players in the country is great for the entire community.”
Tickets for the RoughRiders’ home games are currently on sale and the team has released a COVID-19 Readiness Plan that details what operations will take place to protect fans from contracting COVID-19.
If you’ve been missing baseball this summer, that longing is about to come to an end. So grab your RoughRiders ball cap and get ready to cheer on our hometown boys as they play in the Texas Collegiate League!
