TX Whisky, an artisanal whiskey brand based in Fort Worth, has temporarily changed from producing spirits to producing hand sanitizer to help during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a press release.
After receiving the necessary approvals from several government agencies, TX Whiskey did a trial run on March 24, producing 30 gallons of sanitizer. As of March 31, TX Whiskey has produced 800 gallons of hand sanitizer — with the first 150 gallons going to first responders in Fort Worth — and plans to make 5,000 bottles in 375 milliliter packages and more 64 ounce and 5 gallon packs, according to a press release.
“Though production is just beginning to ramp up, we are eager to see how the TX sanitizer process here at our distillery will supply those in need,” Paul Di Vito, the TX Whiskey General Manager, says in a press release. “In difficult times like these, it is important to come together and do what we can. While TX typically brings people together with our spirits, we are honored to unite with our local and national communities for the greater health and welfare of our country. The TX Whiskey team is honored to do our part.”
The hand sanitizer TX Whiskey produces will be provided directly to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and state emergency management officials, who will distribute it to the areas with the most pressing need, according to a press release.
