Dragon Football’s 2022 season is nearly here. While most of the excitement will take place in the fall, that doesn’t mean the Dragons have been slacking during the offseason. Even with games just a few weeks away, Southlake Carroll as a team has earned several preseason accolades and rankings while individual Dragons are racking up recognitions — all before the very first kickoff.
Preseason Rankings
Coming off a 14-1 finish last season, it’s no wonder Southlake Carroll has been positioned near the top in several preseason rankings. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football named Southlake the state’s No. 3 6A team heading into the 2022 season, while MaxPreps positioned the Dragons at No. 28 nationally on its list of Preseason Top 100 High School Football Rankings.
Individual Accolades
Southlake Carroll is stacked when it comes to individual talent. Three Dragons — Kaden Anderson, Owen Allen and Drew Perez — were named to “The Dallas Morning News’” list of Top 2023 Recruits. Kaden was also among the 10 players named a Top QB Prospect by DCTF. Meanwhile, Owen will surely end his Dragon career on a high note as he looks to add to his Dragon career rushing record of 5,474 rushing yards.
Playoff Potential
It’s no surprise the Dragons have also been recognized for their playoff prowess. Ever since Riley Dodge took over the program in 2018, Southlake Carroll has been to the playoffs every year and even went to the state championship game in 2020. Moreover, DTCF has also recognized the Dragons for their postseason success, cementing the legacy Carroll has in extending the season for as long as possible.
