Coming off a state title appearance, it’s safe to say that no one is underestimating Southlake Carroll this season. And it shows in the preseason rankings, with the Dragons among the top 10 in three preseason ranking lists.
In MaxPreps’ national high school preseason rankings, Southlake Carroll comes in at No. 7 and is one of only two Texas high schools to come in the top 10. Austin Westlake, who won the 6A state championship, is the other Texas high school to appear on the list, coming in at No. 4.
Dave Campbell’s Texas Football also has high hopes for the Dragons this season. In a ranking of the 6A football teams, Southlake Carroll is No. 3, only coming behind Austin Westlake and Katy at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
Last but certainly not least, Texas HS Football put Southlake at No. 2 in their 6A football rankings, coming behind — you guessed it — Austin Westlake, which is ranked No. 1.
With these rankings, one thing is clear: Southlake Carroll will be a team to watch this season. With plenty of returning starters, powerhouse receivers in Landon Samson and RJ Maryland and a star rusher in junior Owen Allen, Dragon Football will be exciting to watch this fall.
