The Carroll Dragons baseball season has officially ended -- one game shy of the state tournament.
After forcing a third game in the best-of-three Class 6A Division 2 regional final, Carroll couldn't overcome the stingy pitching and explosive offense of Flower Mound Marcus in Game 3, losing 13-3. Marcus advances to the Class 6A state tournament with the win, while the Dragons bid farewell to what was an exceptional 2025 campaign.
Marcus pitcher Logan Lawson allowed only two runs in 5.2 innings, throwing 110 pitches. On offense, a four-run first inning and six-run sixth inning put Marcus' lead out of reach.
After losing Game 1 of the series 5-0 -- Carroll's first loss of the postseason -- the Dragons rebounded for a dominant Game 2 victory, a 9-2 win that saw Carroll score five times in the first inning.
But Game 3 quickly got out of hand, as Marcus was up 4-0 by the time the first inning was over. The Dragons cut the lead to 4-2, but then Marcus added three more runs before its final six-run explosion in the sixth.
