For the first time in school history, the Southlake Carroll Bass Team has qualified for the National Bassmaster Championship, to be held in Augusta, Georgia, from July 31 to August 2.
A third-place finish at the state championships was enough to punch the duo of Joshua Adams and Dakota Morris' tickets to the national competition.
Adams and Morris were aided by team captain Craig Rowley, as well as Mani Adams and Dan Morris.
A GoFundMe has been set up to assists Adams and Morris financially on their trip to Georgia.
"For me and [Dakota], qualifying for this event is the result of countless early mornings, long practice days and a deep passion for the sport we love," wrote Adams on the GoFundMe page. "This opportunity means the world to us, and we are doing everything we can to make it to the championship and represent our school, our families and our community with pride."
Adams and Morris notched the biggest catches at last year's Bass Nation Northeast Tournament, held in Pittsburg, Texas. At that tournament -- besides catching four basses weighing 18.89 pounds -- Adams caught a 8.59-pound black bass, which earned him a $550 check.
The purpose of Carroll's Bass Team is to foster a love for fishing and wildlife through a group of seventh to 12th-grade Dragons. You can support or learn more about the organization at CarrollBassTeam.com.
