Following a 16-1-8 season and an unbeaten 10-0-6 run through District 4-6A, the Carroll boys soccer team added a round of individual postseason honors at the state, region, and academic levels.
Noah Abiodun headlined the group as a TASCO First Team All-State selection, capping a standout season in which he served as a key two-way presence for the Dragons with his versatility, composure and playmaking ability.
John Skiermont earned All-State Honorable Mention after posting 14 goals and 21 assists on the year.
At the regional level, Jad Shehadeh was named First Team All-Region 1 after leading the Dragons with 24 goals to go with five assists. Cole Swett earned Second Team All-Region 1 honors, finishing with eight goals and four assists.
Carroll also placed five players on the Walmart THSCA Academic All-State Second Team: Ben Blount, Noah Abiodun, Michael Tran, Jimi Iluyomade, and Arhan Vontela.
Academic All-State Honorable Mention selections included Cooper Gray, Andrew Scrogham, Graham Buete, Graham Byrne, Luke Pharr, Max Tommasi, and Niko Pontikis.
In the playoffs, the Dragons defeated Mansfield Legacy 3-1 in the bi-district round and handled Montwood 5-0 in the area round. Their run ended in a tightly contested loss to Plano West in the regional semifinal, a match that came down to a handful of key moments late in the game.
After a back-and-forth contest, Carroll took a 2-1 lead in the first overtime period on a goal by Skiermont, but Plano West quickly responded with an equalizer just minutes later. The Wolves continued to apply pressure and capitalized on a corner kick in the final minutes of the second overtime, scoring the game-winner with just under three minutes remaining to secure the 3-2 victory.
