Carroll Dragon Cheer opened their competitive season with a strong showing at the NCA North Texas Regional Meet in Rockwall on November 16, finishing third overall with a total score of 124.4.
Judges scored the squad in three main categories: Band Cheer (BC), which evaluates crowd-leading routines; Fight Song (FS), which focuses on skill execution, dance and overall performance; and Cheer (CL), which scores situational cheer motions, stunts and crowd effectiveness.
Carroll posted strong marks across the board:
Performance and Showmanship: 4.30 BC, 4.20 FS, 4.00 CL
Formations and Spacing: 4.50 BC
Execution of Motion and Dance: 8.60 BC, 9.20 FS
Crowd-Leading Tools: 8.70 BC, 3.80 FS, 7.60 CL
Execution of Skills: 9.00 FS, 8.00 CL
Crowd Effectiveness: 8.80 BC, 8.30 FS, 8.50 CL
Visual Appeal/Overall Impression: 8.80 BC, 9.00 FS, 7.80 CL
Carroll's squad is made up 52 athletes, including Varsity, Junior Varsity and six alternates. Upcoming events include the Dragon Cheer Show-Offs on January 8 at Carroll Senior High School, the UIL State Competition on January 17 and the NCA High School Nationals on January 24 in Fort Worth.
