Snapped Dragons / Stewart Johnson
Carroll’s football footprint continues to reach far beyond Dragon Stadium.
While former head coach Riley Dodge has made headlines of his own with an announced move to SMU on Christmas Eve, he isn’t the only Dragon drawing attention on the college football stage. Several Carroll alumni are navigating the transfer portal or announcing new commitments, underscoring the program’s lasting impact at the next level.

Davis Penn — Running Back, Commitment to Wofford
Senior running back Davis Penn has found his next stop.
Penn announced on his X account Jan. 26 that he has accepted an offer from Wofford and will continue his football career at the FCS level. Wofford later confirmed the addition with its own post on Feb. 4, officially welcoming the Dragons standout to Spartanburg.
Penn’s commitment comes after a winding recruiting path. Originally committed to Baylor, the three-star prospect reopened his recruitment during the 2025 season, ultimately finding a strong fit with the Terriers after a dominant senior campaign.
Despite missing time early in the year as the Carroll coaching staff carefully managed his workload while he recovered from injury, Penn delivered one of the most efficient seasons by a Dragons running back in recent memory. He finished his senior year with 1,122 rushing yards on 154 carries, averaging an eye-popping 7.3 yards per carry and scoring 19 touchdowns. Penn also added seven receptions for 79 yards, showing versatility as a pass catcher.
The production only tells part of the story. Penn’s vision, burst through the hole and ability to finish runs made him a constant threat whenever he touched the ball, even with limited early-season reps.
Wofford adds a proven, physical runner with big-play ability, while Penn heads to the Southern Conference with momentum and unfinished business after a standout Carroll career.
Trent Wilson — Offensive Lineman, James Madison to Iowa
Former Dragon offensive lineman Trent Wilson has announced his transfer from James Madison to Iowa. Wilson earned early collegiate experience with the Dukes as the Sun Belt champions qualified for the 2026 College Football Playoff. Now, Wilson joins a Big Ten program known for developing offensive linemen. His size and game reps make him a valuable addition as Iowa reloads its front.
Drew Cunningham — Offensive Lineman, Charlotte to North Texas
Drew Cunningham is heading back to Texas after transferring from Charlotte to North Texas. The Carroll alum saw action in multiple games at Charlotte and adds experienced depth up front for the Mean Green. His move brings him closer to home — he played at UNT's DATCU Stadium while in high school — and into a program continuing to build its offensive line foundation.
Kaden Anderson — Quarterback, Wyoming (Transfer Portal)
Quarterback Kaden Anderson has entered the NCAA transfer portal after his time at Wyoming and has not yet announced his next destination. Anderson was a starter for the Cowboys and remains an intriguing option for programs seeking experience at the position; he finished his career at Wyoming with 2,926 yards passing, 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. His recruitment will be one to monitor as the portal cycle continues.
Harrison Moore — Offensive Lineman, Georgia Tech to Florida
Former Carroll offensive lineman Harrison Moore has announced his transfer from Georgia Tech to Florida. A three-star recruit in the 2024 class, Moore was ranked as the No. 83 interior offensive lineman nationally and the No. 150 recruit in Texas.
At Carroll, Moore helped lead the Dragons to three straight district championships and a Texas 6A Division II state semifinal appearance in 2023. During the 2025 season at Georgia Tech, Moore posted a 66.9 pass-blocking grade and a 63.1 run-blocking grade, according to Pro Football Focus. He allowed no sacks while surrendering five quarterback hits, nine hurries and 14 pressures.
Jack Van Dorselaer — Tight End, Tennessee to Oklahoma
Former Carroll defensive end Jack Van Dorselaer has committed to Oklahoma after transferring from Tennessee, where he was recruited and played as a tight end. He becomes the first tight end commitment under new Sooners tight ends coach Jason Witten and brings SEC experience to a rebuilt position group in Norman.
Van Dorselaer played in every game as a true freshman for the Volunteers during the 2025 season, finishing with five receptions for 23 yards and a touchdown. A four-star prospect out of Carroll, he arrives at Oklahoma with three years of eligibility remaining.
Carey Clayton — Offensive Lineman, Committed to Arkansas
Graduating Carroll senior Carey Clayton represents the next wave of Dragon talent headed to the college level, committing to Arkansas as part of the Razorbacks’ 2026 recruiting class. The 6-foot-3, 270-pound offensive lineman helped Carroll complete an undefeated regular season and advance to the state semifinals last fall.
Clayton enters college football as a consensus three-star prospect and one of the top offensive line recruits in Texas. He chose Arkansas over offers from Air Force, Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, UAB and UTEP, becoming the 16th commitment in the Razorbacks’ 2026 class. He is ranked around No. 251 nationally and No. 141 in Texas.
