Snapped Dragons / Stewart Johnson
Carroll made a resounding statement in the District 4-6A postseason football honors, placing a host of players on the teams and sweeping multiple major superlatives after a season in which the Dragons went undefeated until a state semifinal loss to eventual state champion DeSoto.
Carroll’s first-team selections were headlined by an offense that saw the entire starting offensive line earn first-team all-district honors — Nathan Domeracki, Will Barley, Carey Clayton, Luke Wilson and Tristan Dare. They were joined on the first team by Blake Gunter, Brody Knowles, John Mark Fraga, Brock Boyd and Angelo Renda.
The Dragons were equally strong on defense, with Jake Lucky, Jackson Oakley, Crawford Taylor, Will Liens, Parker Harris, Marcus Brouse, Robbie Ladd, William Chen, Luke Bussmann, Austin Bussmann and Gavin Strange earning first-team recognition. Strange was honored for his impact on both sides of the ball, earning accolades as a kicker and defensive back.
Carroll also claimed several of the district’s top individual awards. Renda was named District MVP, Boyd earned Offensive Player of the Year and Brouse was selected as Defensive Player of the Year. Clayton was honored as Offensive Lineman of the Year, while Harris took home Special Teams Player of the Year.
Second-team honors went to Taevin Kunz and Brody Bourgeois at cornerback and Landon Harris at linebacker, while Davis Penn (running back), Caden Mackey (wide receiver) and Jacob Bobrowski (tight end) were recognized on offense. On special teams, Strange was named first-team kicker, Zac Hayes earned first-team punter, and Cody Williford received honorable mention as a deep snapper.
