Carroll High School celebrated another milestone week as five football players made their college choices official during the winter Signing Day ceremony. The event came at an exciting moment for the program, with the Dragons preparing for their regional final playoff matchup against Denton Guyer this weekend.
Winter Football Signing Day
Carroll wide receiver Brock Boyd headlined the ceremony by officially signing with Ohio State, a school he called his "dream" back before his senior season began. Boyd leaves an enduring mark on the Carroll program after setting the all-time Carroll receiving yard record and finishing with more than 3,900 career yards and 43 touchdowns. His production and consistency helped push the Dragons to a 13-0 start and a berth in the 6A Division II state title game last season.
Quarterback Angelo Renda finalized his commitment to Pitt after surpassing 3,700 yards this year and reaching 8,000 career passing yards. His precision and command of the offense have been central to Carroll’s success as the Dragons enter the regional finals.
Three more senior standouts also made their commitments official. Punter Zac Hayes signed with TCU, kicker Gavin Strange signed with Duke and safety William Chen signed with Brown. Each player has been a steady force on special teams or in the secondary, strengthening all phases of the Dragons’ effort as they turn their attention to the playoff stage.
