The Carroll trophy case is going to need more shelf space after a monumental week in playoff golf, with both the Dragon and Lady Dragon golf teams sweeping the Region 1-6A Championships in convincing fashion.
The Lady Dragons Black Team set a blistering pace, firing a two-day total of 580 (+4). After an opening 295, the squad surged with a second-round 285. Freshman Olivia Neal captured the Individual Regional title after a dramatic playoff win with rounds of 70 and 74 for a 144 total. Gia Ahlowalia secured third place following a playoff against teammate Tyler Burtnett, as both finished at 145. Stephanie De Marco’s steady 146 and Aubrie Nolen’s 158 provided the critical depth needed to seal the victory.
The Lady Dragons depth was further highlighted by the Green Team, which took fourth place with a 619 (+43). This squad was led by Hailey Cole’s 152 and Brooklynn Lodes’ 153, followed closely by Savannah Taggart at 154, with Soha Modh and Callie Stevens both finishing at 161.
Not to be outdone, the boys handled business at the Tangle Ridge course, claiming their own regional title with a total of 581 (+4) behind rounds of 289 and 292.
Preston Mohon led the lineup as the individual silver medalist with a 141, followed by strong performances from Andrea Birolini at 143 and Ayden Patel at 145. Caden Barber’s 152 and Colton Hubbard’s 154 ensured the team victory, while individual medalist Jett Campbell showcased his grit with a 150 to round out the Dragons' dominant showing.
The boys will compete for the state crown on April 27-28 at Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown, followed by the girls on May 4-5 at the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio.
