On May 6-7, the Carroll ISD Academic Team competed against 251 6A schools at the state tournament in Austin.
The literary criticism team earned second place, with member Eri Pilon coming in fifth place individually. Meanwhile, the social studies team earned third place while the journalism team earned eighth place, with members Avery Chang and Arden Berry earning fourth place in headline writing and sixth place in copy editing, respectively.
“The Dragons represented our district with great pride and integrity,” says John Irish, Carroll’s UIL academic coordinator. “I am so proud of these students and coaches who spent the entire weekend representing our district in the highest academic competition in the state of Texas.”
This follows the team’s second-place finish at regionals and a first-place finish at the district meet.
