For fans of high school, college and professional football in the state of Texas, not many publications are more highly regarded than Dave Campbell's Texas Football. Those fans can rejoice, as football content from DCTF has begun to trickle out.
Recently, DCTF released its preseason high school football state rankings, with 18 Class 6A Dallas-area schools named in the top 50. The top-ranked 6A team in the state? Southlake Carroll, and its 19 returning starters from last year's state runner-up squad.
Although Class 6A is split up into two divisions, DCTF's ranking compiles all of the 6A schools together, regardless of division. Carroll's no. 1 ranking puts them ahead of North Crowley, last year's Class 6A Division 2 state champions.
The top three 6A teams are all from the Metroplex: Carroll at 1, North Crowley at 2 and Duncanville at 3. Allen (no. 7) and DeSoto (no. 10) are other DFW teams in the top 10. Colleyville Heritage is ranked as the 20th-best team in Class 5A Division 2
DCTF also listed quarterback Angelo Renda and wide receiver Brock Boyd as the top "quarterback - wide receiver combo" in 6A for 2025, and junior Tristan Dare as an impact offensive lineman. Renda, DCTF also notes, threw for the highest amount of yards in 2024 out of all returning quarterbacks in 11-man Texas football -- narrowly edging Highland Park's Buck Randall by two yards.
"The Dragons offense should breathe fire in 2025," the site reads. "Angelo Renda and Brock Boyd were already named the top QB/WR duo in Class 6A, and they'll operate behind a loaded offensive line."
In all, DCTF previewed more than 1,500 high school football teams.
