Bo Fleming and Caden Leonard will be representing Carroll at the Class 6A UIL state track and field meet on May 1.
Leonard finished in first place in the 1600 meter race with a time of 4:09.13, and Fleming likewise dominated in the shot put with a first-place throw of 62 feet. Leonard also came in second place in the 3200 meter race at 8:53.17.
As a team, the Carroll boys finished sixth with 31 points. The top four teams that qualified for state were Justin Northwest, Mansfield Lake Ridge, Allen and El Paso Franklin.
The 1600 was a tightly contested race: Leonard edged Flower Mound Marcus's Parker Noffz by just over one second for first place, and third-place finisher Aidan Torres of El Paso Westwood was only two seconds behind Leonard.
The shot put was not nearly as close. Fleming's first place throw of 62 feet beat second-place Braydon Walker of Coppell by almost four feet.
The boys state meet is May 1-3 at Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium in Austin.
