The Southlake Carroll Dragon tennis team’s undefeated season came to a close in the Region 1 Final, where the Dragons fell in a hard-fought 10-8 battle to Coppell.
The narrow loss ended Carroll’s year with a 22-1 record, a district championship, and a regional finalist finish.
Despite the heartbreaking finale, the Dragons’ playoff run was filled with dominant performances and defining wins. Carroll opened the postseason on Oct. 6 with a decisive bi-district victory at home over Weatherford, then rolled past El Paso Franklin 10-2 in the area round on Oct. 10 to reach round three.
On Oct. 14, the Dragons blanked Midland Legacy 10-0 in the regional quarterfinals, marking their 21st consecutive victory of the season. Carroll followed with another impressive showing on Oct. 16, defeating perennial power Plano West 10-4 in the regional semifinals to earn a shot at the regional title.
While Coppell ultimately edged the Dragons in the final, Carroll’s near-perfect campaign stands as one of the most successful in program history.
